What is Freemasonry?

Freemasonry is the world's oldest and largest fraternal organization. It brings together men of good character from many different backgrounds who are interested in self-improvement, friendship, and service.

We use old stonemasons' tools and stories as symbols to teach lessons about integrity, kindness, honesty, and fairness — not as literal history, but as a way to talk about how to build a better life.

What Freemasonry is Not

Not a religion. We are not a church, we have no sacraments, and we do not promise salvation. Men of many faiths belong, but each Mason's religion is his own.
Not a secret society. Our lodge, officers, and meeting nights are public. Like many groups, we keep some signs and parts of our ceremonies private.
Not political. We do not endorse political parties or candidates in lodge and do not discuss partisan politics in our meetings.
Not a shortcut to money or status. Membership is about personal growth and service, not business networking or special favors.

Who Can Join?

Freemasonry welcomes men from all walks of life — different careers, backgrounds, and beliefs. What matters most is your character and your desire to grow.

Requirements:

At least 18 years old
A man of good character and reputation
Belief in a Supreme Being (men of all faiths are welcome)
Live in the Fresno–Clovis area or have ties here
Come of your own free will (we don't pressure or recruit)
Willing to meet with members and be recommended by Masons in the lodge

How the Process Works

Start a Conversation

Reach out to us, visit a public event, or ask a Mason you know about joining.

Submit a Petition

If it feels like a good fit, you'll complete a petition so the lodge can get to know you better.

Meet and Be Voted On

You'll meet with a small committee from the lodge. The lodge then votes on your petition before you begin the degrees.

What to Expect With Us

Our lodge calendar includes degree nights, stated meetings for members, and public events like BBQs and family gatherings. As you get to know us, you'll have chances to ask questions, meet our officers, and see if our lodge is the right home for you.

Our building is not a church, and lodge meetings are not worship services — they are business meetings and ceremonies of a fraternity. Each Mason's religion is his own, and we strictly avoid turning lodge into a place of preaching or converting.

No. Freemasonry is not a religion and does not replace anyone's church, synagogue, mosque, or house of worship. We ask members to believe in a Supreme Being, but we never tell a man how to worship or what church to attend.

Our stated meetings are for members and include lodge business, reports, education, and time to connect with each other. We also hold public events, like BBQs and family nights, where friends and guests are welcome.
